The building is big, classic and charming. The Western end of Adelaide Railway Station’s North Terrace entrance received a significant upgrade, improving the ability of the station to handle large crowds, and to provide better connections between Adelaide’s trams, buses and trains. Balhannah railway station is one of these, built in 1883 and used until the 1960's, it now only wakes as the Overland thunders by on its ponderous journey from Melbourne to Adelaide. The Adelaide city Railway station public toilets have been revamped but they fell short on the hygiene, they have soap dispensers surprisingly with soap even, however the cubical's have stainless steel bowls with no seat or lid disgustingI mention in one of my reviews that you need to find the entrance to The Cavern before you can suss it out, the Railway Station is one of the ways.Apart from being the central stop for all trains coming to and going from the city the Railway Station has more to offer. A pretty preservation of early Adelaide industry I'd say, aside from the fact that it's melded to a bloody casino.Ahhh the Adelaide Railway Station. It's always clean in here, and there's a few places you can also grab a bite to eat. One of the nicest buildings in Adelaide and the hub for the Outer Harbour, Gawler, Noarlunga, Tonsley and Belair railway lines. The Adelaide Railway Station is a gorgeous building, but the problem is it just doesn't do too much. There's a newsagency, a cafe, and some fast food. Your one stop resource for Bus, Train and Tram Timetables, Journey Planner, Metrocard, Service Updates, News and more! Easy to locate, and easy to find which train is yours!
Quorn railway station was established in 1879, and the town became a railway hub in the southern Flinders Ranges from 1882. The recently redeveloped Adelaide Oval sits within a revitalised riverbank and parklands precinct. It's quite a nice building, located just below the Sky City Casino (where else better to spend half hour whilst you're waiting for your train?).
Although bypassed by east - west trains from 1937, Quorn served an important role moving troops during World War 2. This grand structure has greeted railway passengers arriving in the city for more than 80 years. Having just come back from a trip in Japan, I've come to really appreciate the Adelaide Railway Station building. Sure the trains run to and fro, and they're pretty much always on time, but other than that there isn't much to spend your time on while you're here.
