Daniel Stendel claims his contract was terminated immediately when he left his role as head coach of Championship club Barnsley in October. "I get the overall feeling that everything is fitting together, we're all thinking in the same direction and that was a main reason for me signing. "You can see the players want to fight and never give up, but we've lost the confidence after 10 games without a win. Barnsley have parted company with head coach Daniel Stendel following a run of 10 Championship games without a win.Adam Murray has been appointed caretaker manager with the club currently second from bottom.Barnsley have not won since beating Fulham 1-0 at home on the opening day of the season.In his final post-match interview, he described Barnsley as having "played like a youth team". "He will take up the role on 1 July, with Andreas Winkler joining as his assistant and Christopher Stern - who worked with Stendel at Hannover - appointed first-team coach.Barnsley chief executive Gauthier Ganaye says the attacking style of play that Stendel says he will bring to the League One side was the main reason they appointed him.His Hannover 96 team scored 50 goals in his 28 games in charge before he was sacked in March 2017. "After retiring as a player in 2008, Stendel's first and only managerial role so far was at Hannover from 2016 to 2017.He was fired with the side fourth in the German second tier - they eventually finished second that season under his successor Andre Breitenreiter to ensure promotion to the Bundesliga after a season out of the German top flight. "I am happy with the faith, trust and belief shown to me from everyone here in advance of me starting the role," Stendel told the club website. "As well as the style, Daniel has the philosophy of using and developing younger players which fits perfectly in our model too. "The second half was the worst that I can remember at Barnsley," the former Hannover 96 boss told BBC Radio Sheffield. Not all of them are going to work and trying to make the ones that do arrive work in a harder division than League One was always going to be tough. Stendel played as a striker in his native Germany, spending most of his playing career with Hannover 96, who he later managed. The south Yorkshire club sit second bottom of the Championship table having won just one of their 11 league matches so far this season.
